A model of Mogao Caves, built by myself, was exhibited between 5th July and 31st July 2013 at Cityplaza, Quarry Bay during the Piece of Peace World Heritage Sites exhibition.
The show lasted for 1 month, and was the first cooperation between Naoe Kazuyoshi (the Japanese LEGO® model architect) and a non-Japanese team.
I have chosen to built the Mogao Caves for it being a place of cultural significance. Mogao Caves is located on the Silk Road, and was a hub for religion, culture, and knowledge. There are 492 smaller caves for monks and temples. It portrays the thousand year old Buddhist art with its grand sculptures and paintings.
50,000 pieces of LEGO® bricks were used for the model. It took me 45 days to build it. The show attracted a huge number of viewers and members of the press.
